NIEPA visits SD College Library for Research Survey

The Department of Higher and Professional Education of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, team visited Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32, Chandigarh on Tuesday to carry out a research study on “Library Facilities in Indian Undergraduate Colleges and its Impact on Students’ Academic Performance”. Anjali Kujur, a research consultant, Renu Dangwal and Kavita, research project staff members, were part of the committee. They not only visited the college library and campus but also conducted and recorded interviews of students and faculty members on the college campus.  

The objective of the research study is to examine the various facets of library facilities in Indian colleges keeping in view the NAAC parameters relating to college library facilities. The aim is also to assess the impact of college library on students and their academic performance. 
Dr Ajay Sharma, Principal of the College, while welcoming the guests, emphasized on the importance of library in academics and student life. Also, how NAAC is important to identify the institutes with potential for excellence and its credibility to an institute. College Librarian Dr Gurpreet Singh, while giving vote of thanks to NIEPA team, shared his inputs and insights regarding the library facilities and related sources available to college students, especially during the COVID times.
